Recently, fans were baffled after seeing HYBE Labels promote an impersonation account of BTS’s V.
On March 21, one fan took to a popular online community to express dissatisfaction over the latest billboard ad they came across in Seoul. Moreover, this ad was shared by HYBE Labels’ official X account, bringing further attention to the impersonation account.
The billboard showed photos of various YouTube shorts created using V’s latest single, “FRI(END)S.” In the photo, it also included a YouTube account that created the YouTube shorts as well.
The netizen who created the online community post pointed out that the YouTube account is actually an impersonation account that fans have reported previously.
The netizen explained, “It destroyed the V-topic that had 2.2 million followers, we requested that it be restored but it went ignored and a new account was made. Shortly after, a fake V account was created. So when you search for V, the fake account appears at the top. Fans have been protesting for days for this to be fixed.”
The fan continued, “Today, BTS official promoted the fake account. That fake account had 800 followers before but now it has over 230,000 in a day. I’ve never seen a label promote a fake account before.”
Korean netizens commented, “How are the fans working harder than the label,” “They are so bad at working,” “I’m so tired of this. Why can’t they work properly?” “What the heck? How are they promoting an impersonation account like that?” “For how long do fans need to do the work in place of the label?” “Is there a BTS anti-fan among the employees?” “HYBE please do some work,” “V.officially is an impersonation account, I can’t believe the label promoted that account,” and “Wow, this is a mess.”
